The SAVVY clinical research study is evaluating an investigational vaccine given to healthy pregnant women to see if it may protect their babies against Respiratory Syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) Virus, or RSV for short. Like many clinical trials, the SAVVY study is also assessing the safety of the investigational product.

Vaccines are an essential element of health care, helping to control diseases that were once widespread, and helping to protect the most vulnerable from serious illness and even death. Today, vaccines protect more people than ever, providing significant benefits for all ages, from babies to teens to moms to seniors.

Yet the work is far from done. Effective vaccines are still needed for many infectious diseases, including RSV.
